Costume Designer
Per Diem costume creation for movement artists. Particularly seeking a designer who can sketch croqui illustrations, create patterns, purchase unique materials with an eye for budget and sew. We entertain at all special events and often need to be creative due to time constraints. We do have some ongoing costume needs as well.
Our ultimate designer will also have an eye for helping to create a brand. Some other companies that are similar to ours, with an eye for branding their entertainers include Quixotic Fusion and Cirque Du Soleil. They inspire us. We tend toward aesthetics of haute couture, Burning Man, and nouveau cirque. The costume designer does not need to reside in SF.

The designer needs to be willing to work within the parameters of the client's needs and keep a goal of low cost, high impact and durability with the costume design.

The ideal candidate will be at the beginning of their career. We are seeking fresh ideas, people who want to grow creatively and who are passionate about fashion or costume creation or art in general. We would hope you are excited going into a fabric store by the colors, textures and possibilities. And also understanding of the process of purchasing fabric and the importance of output and results. This could be a wonderful way to expand a portfolio or a stepping stone to a larger career.  It could be a nice side hustle. This is not a full time or an in-house position. The ideal candidate will need to have their own equipment: sewing machine, work area, mannequins, etc or access to these things. Freedom to work on your own schedule.

Circus Modern is a nouveau cirque talent agency. Our entertainers work in these fields: fire performance, flow arts, aerialists, acrobats, stilt walkers, mime, etc. Our brand of costumes should reflect the San Francisco nouveau cirque style that we are pioneering. Words to describe this could be haute couture and Burning Man, Rate TBD. Make up Artist
Our make up artist will go with the team to luxury and corporate events. We'd like this person to be versed in cirque makeup, white face make up, and able to help elevate our crew with exciting face paint  or makeup to go with the theme of the event. The ideal candidate must demonstrate ability and be awesome to work with. The willingness to do 1 event at half pay or a an inspired make up portfolio is necessary. Must be on time to events. Must possess transportation, and be ready to make the artists look fabulous. The make up artist is also integral to keeping our aesthetics and brand consistent. This includes making onsite suggestions to the artists when they are dressing in costume. Our standards are high for this position. This is gig work. We would love to have someone on the team, at the ready for special events as they arise. The rate of pay varies $100-$200/hour. Fun & varying work environments: at times palacial, sometimes a utility closet, always high energy.

Face Painters, Body Paint Artists, Balloon Twisters
This is a gig work. Fun gig work! 
Just Like Alice face painters go out to events: children's birthday parties, sometimes adult events, corporate events, festivals, and more. Upbeat individuals, on time for call times is extremely important. Willingness to wear your own circus flair and fun attire is a must. We have a learn on the job attitude. If you are a candidate who does not have face paint experience, but is willing to learn and genuinely enjoys being around children, then we would love to talk with you. 
There is an International Face Paint program online that you may invest in to up your face paint game or watch and practice using You Tube Videos. The same is true for balloonists. You Tube is the best resource. We can also send you on location for the first couple of gos with another artist. Social media video editing, branding, and SEO guru
This position requires an eye for creating interesting online posts from the video that we shoot at events. This artist will take blobs of video from events and create bit size succulent nuggets that can be posted on social media platforms. Story telling and video editing skills a must. Work from home on your time and on your computer. The goals of this position are  increasing online followers, keeping the look of two businesses branded, and possibly will extend to marketing for someone who wants to grow with the company.  Rate TBD based on the number of job responsibilities and experience level of the applicant. Please put your best foot forward and demonstrate your skills and interests in this area of expertise.


Administrative assistant to the CEO and salesforce
Do you delight in being helpful? Do you enjoy contracts and paperwork? Are you organized? If you are nodding "yes"; this is the job for you! We need an individual able to text the CEO, sales team (2 individuals) and entertainment artists, to keep the flow of scheduling under control, and to send contracts out to the artists. This is a sales support position. No sales required. Some phone or message interaction with clients and our artists. We currently schedule 10 (or less) events per weekend and with the help of the administrative assistant would love to schedule more. If you'd like a catchier title for this position; we are open to that! 
Contracts are created on Google Drive and are straight forward and very basic. They take the ability and skillfullness to compile information from our client's contract and to turn it into contracts for the artists. You'll be responsible for collecting and entering W9 information from new contractors. Also this candidate will be asked to schedule artists for smaller events such as birthday parties. A lot of birthday parties. Getting dates, times, etc. correct is paramount to this position. Being swift and concise is best.
Part time: 3 full days per week. Weds. Thurs. and Fri are generally the days that the most scheduling is completed. This is an important role to keep the circus running smoothly and clients happy. Attention to detail and willingness to learn about a talent agency's ins and outs is important. 
Creative solutions and a positive mindset are a must. Work from home. A lovely side hustle. Contract work. Must own a good computer, have typing skills, and have internet access. Pay $900 biweekly.

Flow artists, Hospitality Entertainers/Model types, Burners
We accept demo reels, links to social, etc. on an ongoing basis to [email protected] We have a high bar for quality; so send us your best promo material. Transportation is a must... although we sometimes have carpool opportunities to larger events. People of color please apply. Our need for hospitality entertainers, hoop dancers, aerialists, contortionists, jugglers, dancers, living statues, unique acts, clown acts, magic acts, etc. is ongoing. We are interested in flow artists and stilt walkers always since they are the foundation of our business. There are opportunities to practice flow arts at meet ups in SF and Berkeley. There are also opportunities to learn stilt walking from our CEO. We are also interested in multi-versed artists or artists willing to wear a variety of hats which could include children's event entertainment; and hospitality entertainment or fire dancing. We serve Sacramento, Monterey, San Francisco, Berkeley, Napa, Marin, Davis - the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area Region. We follow the principles of Burning Man and enjoy spreading burn culture in a professional environment.
